Shooting World Cup 2021: India Men’s Skeet team wins 3rd Gold of the day, Women get Silver


ISSF World Cup 2021 New Delhi: India’s trio of Mairaj Khan, Angad Bajwa and Gurjoat Khangura won the Gold medal in the Men’s Skeet team event to take India’s medal tally to 14 after Day 3 of the event.

Indian shooters continued their medal-winning spree at the ISSF World Cup in New Delhi. The trio of Mairaj Khan, Angad Bajwa and Gurjoat Khangura won the Gold medal in the Men’s Skeet team event on Monday, taking India’s medal tally to 14.

India won the Gold in the Men’s Skeet team event after outclassing Qatar 6-2 in the gold medal match on Monday. The gold-winning performance came a little after the trio of Parninaaz Dhaliwal, Karttiki Shaktawat and Ganemat Sekhon won the Silver in the Women’s Skeet team event. The women’s team lost the gold medal match 4-6 to Kazakhstan.

Notably, the trio of Mairaj, Angad and Gurjoat won India its 3rd Gold medal of the day on Monday. Elavenil Valarivan and Divyansh Singh Panwar started the Gold rush by finishing on the top step of the podium in the 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team event.

The India duo shot a combined total of 16 in the gold medal match to finish ahead of Hungarian world number one Istvan Peni and Eszter Denes who managed 10. The Indians shot a 10.4 each in the final shot to secure the top prize while the Hungarian pair got 10.7 and 9.9 at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range.

Manu Bhaker and Saurabh Chaudhary then won the Gold medal in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event on Monday.

Bhaker and Chaudhary beat the Iranian team of Golnoush Sebghatollahi and Javad Foroughi in the gold medal match. The Indian duo had a total of 16 points while Iran managed 12.

India also bagged the bronze medal thanks to Yashaswini Singh Deswal and Abhishek Verma, who beat Turkey’s Sevval Ilayda Tarhan and Ismail Keles 17-13.

India have so far won 6 Gold medals, 4 Silver and as many Bronze medals to top the medal tally after Day 3 of the Shooting World Cup in New Delhi. USA is second on the table with just 6 medals.
